A state of emergency will be declared in Lebanon. Arab Media Review

Al-Jazeera TV reports that Lebanese President Michel Aoun will hold an emergency meeting on August 5 to consider the introduction of a state of emergency in Lebanon in connection with the explosion in the port of Beirut. According to updated data, 78 people became victims of the explosion, about 4,000 were injured. Beirut has been declared a disaster area.

The Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadin, considered to be the mouthpiece of Hezbollah, notes that Lebanese and Arab media are reporting Israel’s involvement in the bombing. The Israeli media refute them. At the same time, the Israeli press bypasses the question of the presence in the port of Beirut of the Hezbollah weapons storage facility, which in the past was subjected to Israeli attacks.

Maan news agency reports that three sources in the US Department of Defense have denied the statement by US President Donald Trump, according to which the explosion in Beirut was the result of the attack. According to the president, during a meeting with “our wonderful generals,” they said that it was an attack and that “something like a bomb” exploded.

The East Jerusalem-based Al-Quds newspaper claims that the Israeli government’s decision to build 1,000 housing units in the so-called E1 zone between Jerusalem and Maale Adumim means a real extension of sovereignty to Palestinian territories. Lands on which construction will be carried out were taken from Arab villages.

The Syrian agency SANA reports that Russia has condemned Israel’s aggression against Syria, warning of the possible consequences in the event of a repeat of actions that threaten to destabilize the entire region. The basis for the statement was an air strike by an Israeli UAV in the Quneitra area.
