In Beirut, a growing number of victims of clashes with police

The Lebanese Red Cross ambulance service reports that the number of injured protesters in central Beirut is growing every hour. In clashes with the police, more than 130 people were injured, more than 100 received medical assistance on the spot, the rest were taken to hospitals.

Protesters throw stones and firecrackers at police officers. Law enforcers spray tear gas and fire rubber bullets. Red Cross and Civil Defense vehicles are pulled up to the parliament building.

On Saturday, August 8, tens of thousands of Lebanese gathered in the center of Beirut, in Al-Shahada Square, accusing the authorities that their negligence led to an explosion in the Beirut port.
