A large explosion in Beirut on Tuesday, August 4, literally blew up social media. The video of the incident has spread all over the world. By this hour, 78 deaths and 4,000 injured were reported as a result of the explosion. Local hospitals continue receiving those affected. In addition, houses and offices were damaged. According to Kazakh diplomats, glass was shattered in buildings located several kilometers from the epicenter. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. Local TV channels admit that it could have been a missile strike. Others believe that the explosion occurred in the port’s pyrotechnics warehouse. Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab stated that the blasts were caused by 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate that had been stored unsafely in the Beirut port warehouse for six years.

“I will not rest until we find the person responsible for what happened, to hold him accountable and impose the most severe penalties,” Diab said.

The damage was also caused to the office of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Lebanon. Fortunately, the employees had left the office by this time after the end of the working day. Only the Consul still remained at the workplace and received minor injuries. According to Kazakh Foreign Ministry, Kazakh diplomats are in operational contact with the government. They are checking the data on the state of Kazakh citizens who live in Beirut.
