A new course will be introduced into the curriculum of Kazakh universities. From now on, students will study the work of the great Kazakh poet in more depth. For this purpose, even a new textbook – the ‘Abai Studies’ anthology will be written.
“The main thing is that we have translated the works of Abai into 10 languages. The textbook and anthology of the Abai Studies are now being prepared. The textbooks will certainly be included into the curriculum of philology and history departments in the universities. In addition, special Abai Centers will be opened in Kazakh embassies around the world. This work has become systematic in our country. The Abai Academy Research Institute was established in the Eurasian National University. Since there has been a lot of scientific centers engaged in Abai Studies out there, but they lacked a single system that would unite them all, we established the Abai Academy Research Institute,” Kazakh State Secretary Krymbek Kusherbayev said in an interview with Abai TV.
This year is the 175th birth anniversary of Abai Kunanbaiuly. Although it has not been possible to hold large-scale offline events due to the epidemiological situation in the country, the online activities aimed at popularizing Abai’s legacy are organized throughout Kazakhstan.
