Kyrgyzstan adds 569 new COVID-19 cases, 38,110 in total

Bishkek, Aug. 5, 2020 / News /. Kyrgyzstan added on Wednesday 569 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 38,110.

Head of the public health care department of the country’s Health Ministry Ainura Akmatova told a daily news briefing that 20 of the new cases are medical workers, bringing the total number of contracted medical workers to 2,874, including 1,934 recoveries.

Akmatova said that 767 patients of COVID-19 have recovered over the past day, bringing the total recoveries to 29,510.

The virus-related death tally climbed to 1,438, with 11 more recorded in the previous 24 hours.

Currently, there are 7,170 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, all of them are receiving treatment in hospitals.

Kyrgyzstan recorded its first infection with COVID-19 on March 18 and the first death from the virus on Apr. 2.
