The implementation of the plan of comprehensive measures to improve the environmental situation in Bishkek, Sokuluk and Alamedin districts of Chui region for 2020-2023 was discussed in the government. This was reported in the press service of the Cabinet.
Representatives of the Bishkek Mayor’s Office, the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use, the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry and the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety spoke about the work being carried out, Gazprom Kyrgyzstan LLC – about the progress of gasification of the private sector around Bishkek.
The participants of the online meeting also discussed the issue of transferring the capital’s boiler houses to natural gas.
Vice Prime Minister Almazbek Baatyrbekov noted that due to the coronavirus pandemic and the approaching autumn-winter period, the issue of smog in Bishkek and its environs remains relevant.
“Air pollution has a negative impact on human health. Taking into account the current situation, it is necessary to revise the points of the action plan and make proposals for setting specific deadlines based on the budgetary possibilities. It is important to make every effort to achieve concrete results in a short period of time to reduce the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere and purify the air, ”he said.
Following the meeting, the relevant state bodies were given a number of instructions, including the completion of the repairs at the Bishkek CHPP on time and in full, control over the level of emissions into the atmosphere and the quality of the fuel used at the facility.
