Governor of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Oblast resigns

Bishkek, Aug. 8, 2020. / News /. Governor of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Oblast Uzarbek Zhylkybayev had resigned of his own accord, the press service of the Osh Oblast state administration said Saturday.

Zhylkybayev served as Osh Oblast governor for over 2 years and was appointed to his post in July 2018.

Earlier, in 2017-2018, he held the post of governor of Issyk-Kul Oblast.

“I have decided to continue political activity in the legislative branch and will run for the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament),” he said in an appeal.

Parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan will be held Oct. 4 this year.
