Heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs extorted money from subordinates

The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were detained on the fact of extortion, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

“As part of the work carried out by the Anti-Corruption Service (ACS) of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic to identify and suppress corruption in law enforcement agencies, facts of extortion of funds by the leadership of individual units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic from their subordinates were established. This fact was registered in the Unified Register of Crimes and Misdemeanors. Article 326, part 2, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (extortion of a bribe), “the message says.

According to the State Committee for National Security, on August 8, 2020, as a result of the investigative and operational activities of the AKS of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the SVR of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and with the assistance of the leadership of the Departmental Police Regiment of the Security Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the commander of the 3rd battalion of this service, Lieutenant Colonel A.N. and his deputy militia lieutenant N.B.

During the pre-trial proceedings, it was established that A.N. and N.B. extorted money from individual subordinates in the amount of 2 thousand US dollars for making a decision on their further stay in their positions, and in case of refusal, they threatened to take measures to dismiss them from the internal affairs bodies.

The detainees were placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, an investigation is underway.
