Bishkek schools collect data on children and parents with COVID-19. Akimiat explained that this will help “save more lives”

At the end of July, parents of schoolchildren began receiving messages from teachers in the Whatsapp messenger. The message said that parents must provide complete information about the student’s family members infected with the coronavirus.

“This information is needed by the Bishkek City Administration to determine whether we will continue our studies remotely or return to school,” said in the message.

However, most of the parents were outraged by this decision from the local government. Many noted that school administrators and local authorities should not demand data on the infected, because such information “should be confidential.”
