Young people say: – we want to become a lawyer, we want to become an economist, you can choose the profession of a doctor or a teacher, we don’t want to become an engineer. This is approximately one of the main problems of higher education in Tajikistan, – the director of the National Testing Center (NTC), Khurshed Ikromi, told reporters.
Most of the applicants apply to lawyers, economists, teachers or doctors. But young people are in no hurry to choose natural and technical specialties, although it is precisely such personnel that industry and the agricultural sector need.
The NTC believes that schools do not pay enough attention to vocational guidance, and as a result, the prestige of really needed and scarce professions in Tajikistan is falling.
