WHO to conduct independent tests for coronavirus in Turkmenistan

The day before, on August 7, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with WHO Director General Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus and WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge. “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”.

As Dr. Kluge said on his Facebook page, during the negotiations, WHO expressed serious concern about the increase in the number of pneumonia cases in the absence of COVID-19 and called for the organization’s experts to conduct independent tests directly in Turkmenistan, as well as to collect the tests for study in WHO’s own laboratories.

According to Kluge, Berdymukhamedov agreed with the WHO proposal.

The Turkmen state news agency TDH also reported on the meeting between the President of Turkmenistan and WHO representatives. According to the newspaper, Berdymukhamedov spoke about the “pneumonia of unknown etymology” spreading in the region and suggested that it arises from a new coronavirus.

Following talks with WHO officials, the President held an online meeting with Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Minister of Health and Medical Industry Nurmukhammed Amannepesov.
