Restrictions for Eid al-Adha | Chronicles of Turkmenistan

In the run-up to celebrations of Qurban Bayrami (Eid al-Adha) residents have been recommended to restrict large-scale events and celebrate the holiday at home.

There are few people in Ashgabat streets, even in the centre of the city. No mass events are underway. The seesaws which are traditional for this holiday have not been installed. Public transport, however, runs on regular schedule.

Residents do not organize charity lunches with lots of guests being invited. In the best case scenario they give away festive food to their neighbours as an act of charity (called sadaka).

On the other hand major shopping malls, cafes and beauty parlours are expected to be reopened in the capital shortly.
