UAE sends medical aid to Turkmenistan to prevent Covid-19

On July 31, 2020, the UAE sent medical assistance to Turkmenistan to support the country’s efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Of the total planned aid of 90 tons, 60 tons of essential medical supplies and test kits have been delivered to the country. This shipment will help approximately 90,000 healthcare workers in their fight against the virus.

Commenting on this event, Charge d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan Abdulaziz al-Hashimi said: “The UAE and Turkmenistan have significant bilateral relations, supported by the leadership of both friendly countries in efforts to consistently strengthen and develop cooperation in all areas to achieve common interests.”

“The UAE hopes that the medical assistance directed today will help build the capacity of Turkmenistan’s medical workers and provide additional protection in the fight against Covid-19,” added al-Hashimi.

The UAE has responded to the Covid-19 crisis by providing over 1,248 metric tons of aid to 92 countries, supporting more than 1 million health workers.
