Uzbek citizen who threatened to blow up a bank branch in Kiev was arrested for two months in the case of a terrorist attack

The Pechersk District Court of Kiev has arrested a citizen of Uzbekistan Sukhrob Karimov, who threatened to blow up a bank branch, in the case of a terrorist attack, the press service of the Kiev prosecutor’s office said.

He is charged with part 1 of Article 258 (“Committing or threatening to commit a terrorist attack”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Prosecutor Alexander Zhila told reporters after the hearing that Sukhrob Karimov was arrested for two months without the right to post bail.

If guilty is proved, Karimov faces 5 to 10 years in prison.

Recall that on August 3, 32-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan Sukhrob Karimov went in to the branch of “Universal Bank” and threatened to detonate a bomb that is in his backpack and would detonate if he was killed, because a cable tied to a detonator was attached to his leg. He demanded that representatives of the media, whom he intends to give interviews, be admitted to him, as well as give him 40 thousand hryvnia (1.4 thousand dollars).

Sukhrob Karimov was detained during the “Boomerang” and “Thunder” special operations.
