Almost $ 1.5 trillion soums allocated in the first half of the year for the provision of medical institutions and the population with medicines

The next issue of discussion within the framework of the agenda of the sixth plenary session was the report of the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation in the first half of 2020 of the State Program for the implementation of the Action Strategy in five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the “Year of Science, Education and Digital Economy Development”.

It was noted that the government has created an integral system for ensuring the implementation and constant monitoring of the Program, which provides for the development of drafts of 163 normative legal acts and 121 programs of events and other documents.

In the reporting period, the amount of foreign investments and loans used was 1.2 times more compared to the same period last year. The volume of services increased by 2.6%.

For the provision of state medical institutions and the population with medicines, medical products, 1.3 times more funds were allocated compared to last year, or almost 1.5 trillion soums.

It was noted that due to the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the growth rates in the sectors of the economy have also significantly decreased. In particular, the volume of exports in the republic decreased by 22.6% compared to last year.

Of the 118 assignments that were to be carried out in accordance with the Program in the first half of 2020, 3 were not completed on time.

Thus, the adoption of a government decision on strengthening the safety of food products has not been ensured.

In the process of discussing the government’s report, the senators focused on some complaints from the population resulting from the failure to take appropriate measures for the targeted and effective use of funds allocated for social support of the population in the context of a pandemic and quarantine.

It was emphasized that the tasks of establishing an electronic control system for unjustified increases in prices for consumer goods and medicines were not ensured at the proper level.

Emphasis was placed on the need to stabilize the epidemiological situation in the country, prevent diseases, deliver citizens suspected of being infected with coronavirus to hospitals, as well as systematically explain the quarantine requirements to the population and strengthen the active participation of local representatives of the mahalla in exercising public control in this area.

The corresponding resolution of the Senate was adopted on this issue.
