In Turkey, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was named “Central Asian Person of the Year.”

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been recognized as a “foreign statesman of the year” in the annual rankings compiled by the Turkish financial and economic publication Tursomoney. The announcement was made during a ceremony in Istanbul attended by the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Binali Yildirim.

According to the report, Shavkat Mirziyoyev added to the high recognition that it is important and practical to strengthen political and economic relations and cooperation with the outside world, especially with Turkey and Central Asia, as well as to accelerate cooperation in Central Asia and its environs.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Turkey, the rating is determined in two main categories – “Foreign Statesman of the Year” and “Famous Turkish Statesman” – in six categories. The decision of the collegial commission and the jury is made on the basis of studying and analyzing the activities of both Turkish and foreign politicians and businessmen. The jury consists of magazine experts, members of the Turkish government and parliament, and representatives of the country’s regions.

Former Prime Minister and Acting Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Binali Yildirim has won the second nomination “Great Statesman of Turkey” and the second most important nomination of the year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yildirim praised the profound reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
