The number of budget-funded places in medical faculties increased in the Kyrgyz Republic

Due to the great need of the healthcare system for medical specialists, by order of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, grant places were allocated at the Medical Academy and Osh State University.

This was reported by the head of the department of human resources and organizational work of the department Aigul Boobekova.

Places are allocated in the areas of general medicine, preventive medicine, pediatrics and nursing.

Also allocated budget places in residency: 30 places for epidemiologists, 22 – for infectious disease specialists, 30 – for microbiologists and 26 – for resuscitators.

“For the 2020-2021 academic year, the number of budget places for training in the specialties of pulmonology (35 places), emergency medical care (12) and clinical laboratory diagnostics (20) has been increased. Letters were also sent to the Ministry of Finance and Education and Science with a request to allocate an additional 250 budget places, ”Boobekova said.

With a sharp increase in the number of citizens infected with coronavirus, Kyrgyzstan is faced with a shortage of health workers. The government urged all citizens with medical education to work on a contract basis. Also, students of the last years and domestic specialists from Russia, who at one time left there for labor migration, came to the aid of the doctors.
