Germany to provide Kyrgyzstan with a grant of 41.8 million euros

President Sooronbai Jeenbekov signed the Law “On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Financial Cooperation for 2019-2020 and the Agreement between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on Technical Cooperation for 2019-2020, signed on May 29, 2020 year in the city of Bishkek “.

The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on June 25, 2020.

In accordance with the signed agreements, the government of the Federal Republic of Germany will provide the government of the Kyrgyz Republic for the period 2019-2020 in grant funds in the amount of 41.8 million euros for bilateral technical and financial cooperation.

Of this amount, € 21.8 million is allocated for the following technical cooperation projects:

“Promoting Perinatal Health Care” (4 million euros);

Green Economy and Sustainable Private Sector Development (€ 6 million);

“Promotion of employment in vocational training” (5 million euros);

“Conserving biodiversity and reducing poverty through the municipal exploitation of walnut forests and pastures” (2.9 million euros);

“Creation of the Foundation for Research and Specialists” (2.5 million euros);

“Promoting the use of services that are important for quality in Kyrgyzstan” (1.4 million euros).

EUR 20 million is allocated for the implementation of the following projects within the framework of financial cooperation:

the financial sector value chains program (€ 9 million);

the Financial Sector Value Chains Program, a side event (€ 1 million);

health sector project (€ 10 million).

The law comes into force after 10 days from the date of its official publication.
