Strong alcohol ice cream is officially allowed in New York

Governor of New York State Signs into Law Permitting the Production of Ice Cream with Spirits, Informs RIA Novosti with reference to Travel and Leisure.

Two years ago, Governor Andrew Cuomo authorized the production of beer and cider ice cream. Now you can add liquor to the treat. Authorities believe the law stimulates small businesses, allowing New York farmers, craft drink and dairy producers to meet consumer demand.

According to the rules, ice cream should not contain more than five percent alcohol. The new dessert cannot be consumed by persons under the age of 21.

Ice cream makers say the combination of spirits and creamy ice cream opens up a huge palette of flavors where there is room for improvisation. In addition to liqueur, beer and cider, there is also wine ice cream and a maple bourbon option.
