Haibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban* in power in Afghanistan, has ordered the dismissal of officials who placed their children in positions in the government agencies they head.
“Officers who have assigned one or more of their sons to institutions under their control are exempt from service,” the statement posted on Twitter reads.
According to Akhundzada’s decree, all state institutions must “strictly refrain” from providing job seekers on the basis of personal relationships or family ties.
