Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II has stripped her four grandchildren, Prince Joachim’s children, of their prince and princess titles, according to an official statement from the royal family. it is said.
«Their Royal Highnesses have decreed that from 1 January 2023, the children of HRH Prince Joachim will only be able to use their titles as Counts and Countesses of Montpez.“, the statement reads.
According to him, the Queen wants her grandchildren to be able to build their own lives “without being restricted by the special understandings and obligations that come with officially belonging to the Royal House of Denmark as an institution.”
It is noted that all the grandsons will retain their right to the throne.
The Queen’s other grandchildren, 54-year-old Crown Prince Frederick, have retained their titles.
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark is 82 years old and ascended the throne on January 14, 1972, after the death of her father, Frederik IX.
