In the final of the Asian Cup U20 tournament hosted by our country, the youth team of Uzbekistan defeated Iraq and became the continental champion.
The head of the country, Shavkat Mirziyoev, personally visited the stadium to support Ravshan Haydarov’s students in the decisive match.
Umarali Rahmonaliyev converted a penalty shot by Abbosbek Faizullayev into a goal in the 72nd minute of the match, which was full of excitement and fights, and shook the stadium – 1:0. This became the first result.
In this way, the youth team of Uzbekistan became the champion of Asia.
With the victory in the final against Iraq, Uzbekistan recorded a unique treble – became the champion of Asia in three different age categories. Our representatives won the Asian Championship among juniors in 2012, and in 2018 they became the winners of the Asian Cup U23 in China under the leadership of Ravshan Haydarov. Today’s victory brought a golden double to Haydarov, and a treble to Uzbekistan. Before that, only 4 teams in Asia – South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq – were able to achieve such a result.
